Bland Ahoy!

(what I did on my holidays)

“Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life.”

 – Jack Kerouac

Why I began Bland Ahoy!

I have not traveled enough in my life but aim to rectify this. Whenever I do get the opportunity to briefly escape this island, I intend to write about my travels, both local and abroad, tell stories of the places I go, the people I meet, and generally share my experiences.

In this blog I shall be retelling stories and relating pictures from the (hopefully) more exotic moments of my life, those involving amazing travel, good food, indulgent boozing and pleasurable company. I hope for a lot more of them!

Oh, Guate a wonderful life! Part 2 – Antigua

The market was huge, and labyrinthine, with the stall owners and produce sellers accompanied by their children, working and bustling together busily. Its charm lay in its scale and the throng of local people, allowing it to retain its sense of culture and community purpose.

Oh, Guate a wonderful life! Part 3 – Lake Atitlán

Aldous Huxley described it thus, “Lake Como it seems to me, touches on the limit of permissibly picturesque, but Atitlán is Como with additional embellishments of several immense volcanoes. It really is too much of a good thing.”
